VALORANT Cheats Explained: Types, Risks and Fair Play

What players mean by VALORANT cheats—aim assistance, vision overlays, and automation—and why Riot treats them as integrity violations with real account and legal risk.

Search results mix marketing pages, outdated forum threads, and scam downloads. In VALORANT, “cheats” usually means third-party software that reads game state or automates input to gain an unfair advantage. Riot’s VALORANT Terms of Service prohibit unauthorized third-party tools, and Vanguard is designed to detect many of those tools on PC. This article explains common categories at a high level—without setup instructions—so you can understand risks, reports, and fair-play expectations.

What counts as cheating in VALORANT

Riot defines cheating broadly: anything that modifies gameplay, automates decisions, or exposes hidden information other players cannot see. That includes aimbots that move your crosshair, trigger bots that fire when an enemy is under the reticle, recoil scripts, and overlays that draw enemy positions through walls. Using these tools in ranked or premier queues undermines competitive integrity and can harm other players’ experience even when detection is delayed.

CategoryWhat it tries to doTypical enforcement
Vision (ESP / “wallhack”)Shows players, abilities, or utility through geometryReports + anti-cheat signals; removal from competitive modes
Aim assistanceSnaps, smooths, or predicts aim onto targetsHigh ban rate when detected; replay review in some cases
AutomationTrigger bot, bunny-hop scripts, ability macrosTreated as cheating; hardware bans possible for repeat abuse
Account sharing / boostingRank manipulation via others playing your accountAccount sanctions separate from software bans

Why “undetected” marketing is not evidence

Third-party sellers often claim their tools are private, kernel-level, or “UD” (undetected). Those statements are not verified by Riot and can change overnight after a Vanguard update. Free or cracked loaders frequently bundle malware—credential stealers, remote access trojans, or miners—disguised as cheat menus. Treat any download outside official Riot channels as high risk to your PC and accounts, not just your VALORANT rank.

Account bans, hardware bans, and appeals

Sanctions can range from temporary competitive restrictions to permanent account closure. For severe or repeated integrity violations, Riot may apply hardware-level restrictions that tie enforcement to the PC—not only the login. If you believe a ban was applied in error, use Riot’s official support channels; third-party “unban services” are not affiliated with Riot. Read What Is a HWID Ban in VALORANT? for how hardware restrictions differ from a single account ban.

Fair play and what legitimate improvement looks like

  • Practice aim in VALORANT’s range, Deathmatch, and structured team customs—not unauthorized overlays.
  • Review your own demos or recorded clips to fix positioning and utility timing.
  • Use official patch notes and VALORANT support for client issues—not cheat forums.
  • Report suspicious behavior in-client; reports feed Riot’s investigation systems alongside Vanguard.
